Departure

The second meeting was realised by our Bulgarian partners in Sofia, from 3rd to 7th June 2013. Slovak team consisted of 6 teachers and three kids. Teachers stayed in a nice hotel and the kids spent their time in families. All of us spent wonderfull time together with other teachers and children, we did a lot of useful activities connected with the project, made new friends, improved our English, enriched ourselves and learnt a lot about Bulgarian culture, habits, food, people, body language and about this nice country.

We were very surprised about our partner´s school, which is very big, modern and all the people here are like one big family, they like to learn new things, use new and modern methods of learning, have interesting subjects and after curriculum activities.

We were absolutely surprised with a nice cultural programe which was prepared by our Bulgarian partner – kids showed us a lot of nice and interesting dances and body language performances, all of them were absolutely great.

We admired Sofia as a nice and beautiful historical city with lots of historical buildings, cathedrals, as well as modern buildings. Also the trip to Plovdiv was a big adventure for us. We saw that Bulgaria has a wonderful history and the towns as Sofia and Plovdiv prove it.

We spent a lot of time together tasting typical Bulgarian food as well as the food of other partners, we were dancing together, smiling together and we felt absolulely great here.

Big thanks to Bulgarian partner for such nice and enriching meeting!

Second day

The welcome meeting

The day started with a ceremonial welcome meeting at the school hall.

The announcers announced the most important news of the day – the arrival of the foreign guests. The video clip about the “arrival of the foreign guests ”ships in the Bulgaria harbour” was accompanied by the dance of the waves and the dance of the majorettes.

After that the participants were welcomed by the Principal of the school and the coordinator of the project.

Next was a special greeting for our guests – а short dramatic version of the tale “Little Red Riding Hood” performed by the students of 6A grade. The announcers were announcing the news in Bulgarian and in English. But they also counted on the “on air sign language translation” of Kaloyan from 9C grade who made really skillful pantomime commentaries.

The programme continued with a Jewish dance performed by students of the 6thgrade and short dramatic version of the tale “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.The dancing girls from 2 grade presented dances that were worthy for the Rio Carnival.By tradition, the little gymnast girls got loud applauses from the audience. After that there were shown the silent films produced by all the partners.

As children of the 21st century, our students performed their own interpretation of a popular tale which they called “A Grandpa pulls his Grand Daughter out of Facebook”.(6C grade).

In the sports news, the accent was put on the race between the hare and the tortoise, a short dramatic version based on the famous Aesop’s fable. (6C grade).

By tradition, the meeting was closed with Bulgarian folk dances.

Walk in Sofia

In the afternoon the programme continued with a walk around the centre of Sofia under the motto “Getting to know Sofia”.Full of impressions and happy with the good weather after a short rest we took our seats at the National Music Theatre. There we enjoyed the incredible performance of Bulgarian folk dances presented by the students of the National School of Dance Art.The magic of the Bulgarian folk music, dances and rhythm fascinated all of us.

Bulgarian folk dances

In the evening we watched a dance performance in the National Musical Theatre.

This evening full of dances presented Bulgaria in the most beautiful way.

First day

The first day Slovak, Poland, Turke and Spanish groups went to Sofia, the capital of Bulgatria.

Third day

The third day was dedicated to the beautiful Bulgarian town of Plovdiv.

The walk around the small cobblestone streets of the old town of Plovdiv in the rays of the June sun slipped by. We visited the Ethnographic museum. There we got to know the way of life of the Bulgarians from the near past. We learned about the culture and the revival spirit in Bulgaria of that time.

We moved back to antiquity on the stage of the Ancient theatre. At the Roman stadium we didn’t measure strengths with one another but took a lot of photos to keep the memory for Plovdiv and the ancient remains there.

Thus the third day passed – travelling to Plovdiv in sunny Bulgaria with a lot of nice emotions.

For the children, the evening was dedicated to their host families and there was held an international dinner party for the teachers. Our guests tasted traditional Bulgarian dishes as shopska salata, tarator, lyutenitsa, yogurt and pastry and really enjoyed them.

Forth day

Bulgarian folk dances at 134 school.

That was how the students passed the time before noon. The children were divided at random to four groups and rehearsed Bulgarian folk dances. Their trainers were our elder students.

All the participants showed a lot of efforts and willingness in their dance classes. They practiced the complicated steps and prepared dances which they were going to present in the evening in front the audience.Next was the game of films.

One of the participants had to use body language to explain popular movie and the rest had to guess only by the pantomime which the movie was.

It wasn’t difficult for the participants to cope with body language and all enjoyed the game.

Forth day – Good bye evening

The school yard was changed for the party.

Especially decorated tables, dancing floor, lights… that was only part of the preparation for the evening.

The guests – students, teachers and parents…

The party, traditionally, began with a welcome speech of the principal, Ms. Paldamova. Ms Nacheva, the project coordinator, greeted the participants and thanked them.

Each guest received a small present for a keepsake of the meeting in Bulgaria.

Our little guests presented the dances they studied in the morning and aroused a storm of applause from the audience.

The evening proceeded with the performance of the elder dancers from 134 school. They presented traditional dances from Spain, Slovakia, Poland and Turkey.

The audience again was fascinated and the dances continued as everybody joined a Bulgarian chain dance (horo).

The party went on with a lot of dances and fun. Our guests performed typical dances for their countries. Spontaneity and high spirits, lights and illuminations, an enormous cake with the project’s logo…

It is difficult to describe that last evening of the project! It was our pleasure to be hosts! We are looking forward to our next meeting in Turkey! Hope to see you soon, friends!
